As a religious broadcaster, WKCL has established a religious qualification for all employee positions at WKCL-FM in accordance with FCC rules, WKCL makes reasonable, good faith efforts to recruit applicants without regard to race, color, national origin or gender, among those who are qualified for employment based on their religious belief or affiliation. 91.5 WKCL serves the Christian community of Charleston, SC with a blend of three styles of music: Southern Gospel, Praise & Worship and Adult Contemporary Christian music. WKCL is owned and operated by the Holy Spirit Bible College and Chapel of the Holy Spirit in Ladson, SC and serves the Charleston area. WKCL began broadcasting at 3000 Watts, 6 am-12 midnight on January 11, 1982. Currently operates at 100,000 Watts, 24 hours, 365 days a year. March 2002, WKCL became digitally mastered with a better sound quality for its listeners. Support comes in the form of listener contributions and underwriting from local individuals, businesses and churches. From the beginning WKCL has blended three strands of music into one (Southern Gospel, Praise & Worship and Contemporary) and also offers some teaching programs. The format also features music from various ethnic backgrounds and age ranges as well.
